Lightweight & Compact; electrodes commonly used in lithium-ion batteries (lithium and carbon) are lightweight by nature, making for much smaller and lighter batteries than their old counterparts such as lead acid. This is an especially convenient characteristic for products such as our scooters as it helps keep weight to a minimum, whilst maintaining maximum power.
High Energy Density; Older types of batteries had a so called “lazy battery effect”. If they were only partially discharged before being recharged, the battery would loose some capacity and start to drop in voltage much earlier in its cycle. They’d also need regular maintenance by conducting a complete discharge and recharge; none of which is very practical in the real world. Lithium-Ion batteries don’t suffer these same issues so, just like your mobile phone, you can top-up the charge whenever you like, whatever amount of charge it already has.
More charge cycles; Lithium-Ion batteries are not only quicker to charge than older counterparts, they also last longer per charge and have a longer overall lifespan; there really is no downside! In general, our batteries will easily keep you going for at least 500 full charge cycles or in real life terms around 10,000km!
Eco-Friendly; Not only do our scooters offer a very eco-friendly form of transport, the Lithium-Ion batteries we use contain relatively low levels of toxic heavy metals found in other batteries such as lead-acid and nickel-cadium. Several materials have been battery stalwarts for years, but prolonged exposure to, and inadequate disposal of these metals is harmful to humans, animals and plants. Something the use of Lithium-Ion batteries removes. There are also many companies around the UK who now offer Lithium-Ion refurbishment, essentially replacing all internal cells without the need or inconvenience of disposing and replacing the complete unit.
